Professor Dr. Ahmed Al Hashimi

Biography

Ahmed Al-Hashimi is a PhD student at Linköping University focusing on safer platelet regulation. His research explores a new and promising mechanism regulating platelet activity that was previously unknown. The preliminary results suggest that platelet activation can be selectively regulated, which allows the body to respond physiologically when necessary while preventing unwanted activation. By mapping the molecular mechanisms of this process, Ahmed aims to contribute to the development of a new generation of blood-thinning treatments. This mechanism holds the potential to reduce the risk of thrombosis while also increasing the risk of bleeding. His research brings us a step closer to innovative and safe methods to treat and prevent blood clots. The work aligns with the urgent need for precise interventions in thrombosis.
