Biography

Ahmed Hagras is a Senior Lecturer in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and co-programme leader for the MSc BIM at the University of the West of England (UWE). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Egypt and a Master of Science in BIM from UWE. Currently pursuing a PhD, Ahmed is investigating a Decision-Making Framework for Carbon Management with a focus on Materials and Products Database. With over fifteen years of professional experience as a structural engineer and BIM consultant in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, he has led and advised on several significant projects. Since joining UWE in 2021, he has been actively involved in teaching and research, contributing to the academic community with expertise in a wide range of areas related to Building Information Modelling applications, including digital twin, asset management, programming, and sustainability. His research interests also extend to areas such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and computational/generative design, which play a crucial role in modern architectural and engineering practices.
