Biography

Ahmed Hegazy is a critical care physician and cardiac anesthesiologist at London Health Sciences Center. He completed his anesthesia residency and clinical fellowships in cardiac anesthesia, neuroanesthesia, and critical care medicine at Western University, where he has been a faculty member since July 2014. Dr. Hegazy has previously served as the Education Director for the Cardiac Surgery Recovery Unit, the Competence Based Medical Education Lead, and was the inaugural Chair of the Competence Committee in the Division of Critical Care. He holds a Master's degree in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health and has advanced certification in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography. He is dually certified by the Royal College in anesthesia and critical care. His research interests include post-cardiac surgery care, competence based medical education, and resuscitation practices, particularly post-cardiac arrest care. Dr. Hegazy is also an educator in point-of-care ultrasound and transesophageal echocardiography.
