Ahmed Veten grew up in Mauritania and completed medical school at Jordan University of Science and Technology. He completed his pediatric residency at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar before coming to the United States to undertake a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship at Penn State University. He pursued an advanced fellowship in Pediatric Cardiac ICU at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences which he completed in 2023. Ahmed joined the Yale University faculty thereafter. His academic interests revolve around barriers to effective communication in inpatient settings, procedural safety, and point of care ultrasound (POCUS). He is leading several projects aimed at advancing knowledge in these fields. He is a founding investigator of the pediatric research collaborative in critical ultrasound, known as PeRCCUS, which is an official subgroup of the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury Sepsis Investigators Network (PALISI network). Additionally, Ahmed is actively engaged in the care of critically ill children with acquired congenital heart diseases, and he is involved in educational endeavors for postdoctoral Pediatric Critical Care fellows.
