Biography

Ahmet Hoke is a Professor of Neurology and Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also holds the position of the W. Smith Charitable Trust Professor of Neuroimmunology. He serves as the Director of the Daniel B. Drachman Division of Neuromuscular Diseases and the Merkin Peripheral Neuropathy Nerve Regeneration Center. He completed his medical training at Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey, and pursued his PhD in developmental neuroscience at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Following this, he completed a neurology residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and underwent additional neuromuscular training at the University of Calgary in Canada, eventually returning to join the faculty at Johns Hopkins University. Hoke has received numerous awards, including the Derek Denny Brown Young Neurological Scholar Award in 2005, the Wolfe Neuropathy Research prize in 2018, and the Nejat Eczacibasi Medical Scientist Award in 2019. He is an Ex-Officio member of the Board of Directors of the American Neurological Association and serves as Vice-President of the Toxic Neuropathy Consortium. Hoke is also the Editor-in-Chief for the Annals of Clinical Translational Neurology.
