Ai Ing Lim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at Princeton University. Originally from Malaysia, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Hong Kong. As a European Union Marie Curie Fellow, she completed her graduate studies at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, under the mentorship of Professor James Di Santo, where she identified innate lymphocyte precursors in the blood of healthy individuals. Following her graduate research, she received a fellowship from the Human Frontier Science Program to train postdoctorally in Dr. Yasmine Belkaid’s laboratory at the National Institutes of Health. During her postdoctoral training, she discovered that maternal infection provides pre-birth immune education to offspring in a tissue-specific manner. Throughout her career, her work in human and murine immunology has demonstrated that the immune system is highly plastic and can adapt to environmental challenges from birth. Her significant contributions to the field have been recognized by several awards, including the International Rising Talents Award from L’Oreal-UNESCO, the European Immunology Thesis Award, and the Sidney & Joan Pestka Post Graduate Award from the International Cytokine and Interferon Society.
