Biography

Ai Ye obtained a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology (China) in 2005 and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Aerospace Engineering from Old Dominion University (USA) in 2011. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as a research associate at the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics (China). Before joining Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) as an assistant professor in 2013, he was a postdoctoral researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory (USA). Ai Ye served as a visiting scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from August 2014 to July 2015. He was promoted to associate professor with tenure in September 2019. He is a member of the editorial boards of Elsevier's Organs-on-a-Chip and ACS Analytical Chemistry. His research expertise includes micro/nanofluidics, BioMEMS, and lab-on-a-chip technologies. His work aims to develop low-cost field-deployable devices for biomedical, energy, and environmental applications. His long-term goal is to translate innovative micro/nanofluidics technologies into the commercial market through collaborations with industry.
