Biography

Aidan Mosselson is a Chancellor's Fellow at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, University of Edinburgh. His research interests focus on urban development in the Global South, migration, infrastructures, and the politics of everyday relationships in space and social identities. He completed his PhD in Social Geography at University College London in 2015. Before his PhD, he served as an Associate Lecturer in the Sociology Department at the University of the Witwatersrand and held a Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Johannesburg and the Gauteng City-Region Observatory from 2016 to 2017. His international experience includes a fellowship at LSE Cities and a role as a Newton International Fellow in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at the University of Sheffield. He has extensive teaching experience at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in South Africa and the UK. His research examines issues shaping urbanization and development processes in South Africa and the UK, particularly concerning race, identity, and urban governance in a neoliberal context. He has also investigated the affective dimensions of migration and unseen labor infrastructures in UK cities. His future research plans involve migration governance and mobility justice in sub-Saharan Africa.
