Dr. Aidan Vining

Biography

Aidan Vining is a Professor at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University. He specializes in North American Business Studies and holds multiple degrees including an LL.B. with honors from King's College, London, an M.B.A. from California, Riverside, and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. With a career spanning over several decades, Vining has held various administrative positions, including Academic Director of the Executive MBA program. His research mainly focuses on public policy analysis, institutional analysis, and business strategy, specifically in the areas of privatization, regulation, and public-private partnerships. Vining has published extensively, with 75 widely cited journal articles covering topics such as health economics, public administration, and policy analysis. He has co-authored significant works on cost-benefit analysis, serving as a principal investigator on substantial grants, including a SSHRC-funded project exploring the economics of government regulation. His commitment to public policy is reflected not only in his academic work but also in his consulting roles with government bodies in British Columbia and Canada, and his involvement on various boards of directors.
