Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Aiden Doherty. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Aiden Doherty is a Professor of Biomedical Informatics and a Wellcome Senior Research Fellow at Oxford Population Health. His research group is focused on developing reproducible methods to analyze wearable sensor data in large health studies, aiming to understand the causes and consequences of diseases. Aiden has developed methods for objectively measuring physical activity, which have been actively utilized by researchers worldwide, particularly through the UK Biobank. His work has demonstrated significant associations between physical activity levels and cardiovascular disease risks. The group has also focused on machine learning applications in identifying sleep and physical activity behaviors. Aiden's research includes investigating genetic variants associated with sensor-derived phenotypes, showing causal evidence of physical activity in lowering blood pressure. In 2015, he was a recipient of the EU Marie Curie Award for his contributions to health sensor data analysis and has been involved in creating guidelines for mobile device use in clinical trials in collaboration with the FDA. He continues to lead his research efforts and encourages parties interested in joining his group to make contact.
