Biography

Aiichiro Nakano is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Southern California with joint appointments in Physics & Astronomy and Quantitative & Computational Biology. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of Tokyo, Japan, in 1989. Nakano has authored over 485 refereed articles in the areas of scalable scientific algorithms, massive data visualization, machine learning, and computational materials science. His recognition includes the National Science Foundation Career Award, LSU Alumni Association Faculty Excellence Award, and multiple paper awards from IEEE conferences. As a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a member of IEEE, ACM, and MRS, his research focuses on algorithmic, parallel-computing visualization techniques and applications in high-performance computing and virtual environments.
