Dr. Aila Matanock

Biography

Aila Matanock is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Berkeley. She was previously a national fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. Her research has received support from prestigious organizations such as the National Science Foundation, Minerva Research Initiative, and the Institute for Global Conflict and Cooperation. Prof. Matanock's work primarily focuses on statebuilding in the context of civil conflict, with particular emphasis on the influence of international actors and civilian participation in these processes.
