Professor Dr. Ailar Hajimohammadi

Biography

Ailar Hajimohammadi is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales. He completed his Ph.D. in sustainable cementitious materials at the University of Melbourne in 2011. His academic career includes a significant postdoctoral research position in the Infrastructure Engineering Department at the University of Melbourne from 2015 to 2018. Prior to joining UNSW, Ailar worked at AspenTech for four years, gaining valuable experience in industry consultation and training. His research focuses on the chemistry of materials, aiming to develop innovative construction elements with attractive properties while investigating waste management and resource recovery strategies in the context of a circular economy for civil construction projects. Ailar is particularly interested in sustainable resilient construction materials, geopolymers, alkali-activated binders, blended cements, and carbon-negative construction elements.
