Dr. Aileen Bell

Biography

Professor Aileen Bell graduated from the University of Stirling with a BSc with Honours First Class in Biology in July 1990. She worked at Hannah Research Institute as a Research Assistant on a Mammalian Biochemistry project before taking a PhD position at the University of Glasgow in October 1990. After obtaining her PhD in July 1993, she pursued further studies in Dentistry, graduating as a Distinguished Graduate with a BDS Honours in 1998. Her clinical training included a year of General Professional Training and positions as Senior House Officer and Specialist Registrar in Surgical Dentistry. In June 2004, she was appointed Clinical Lecturer in Oral Surgery at the University of Glasgow. Among her achievements are the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and Fellowship from the Higher Education Academy. Professor Bell's research focuses on Educational Research and Dimensional Imaging, with particular interests in assessment, digital blended learning, and the clinical application of 3D imaging for surgical assessments. She has been involved in significant projects, including a £1.5 million NHS Education Scotland funded initiative and collaborative studies linking various disciplines to enhance dental education.
