Aimee Morgans' research focuses on sound fluid dynamics with the aim of making energy generation and transport environmentally friendly, thereby mitigating the effects of climate extremes. She held a €2M European Research Council Consolidator Grant from 2018 to 2023 to study sound flow interactions with low emissions combustors, and a €1.5M European Research Council Starting Grant from 2013 to 2018. Additionally, she was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship that lasted from 2004 to 2009, concentrating on thermoacoustic instabilities. Morgans joined Imperial College London as a Lecturer in 2007 and has progressed to Senior Lecturer in 2011, Reader in 2014, and was promoted to Professor in 2017. She earned her PhD, MEng, and MA degrees in Engineering from Cambridge University. In recognition of her contributions, she was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2021 and as a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales in 2024. Moreover, she was awarded the Menelaus Medal by the Learned Society of Wales in 2023. Morgans serves on the steering committee for Imperial's Vehicle Futures Hub and is a co-lead of the UK's Special Interest Group for Women in Fluid Dynamics. She is also part of the editorial board for the journal Applied Acoustics.
