Biography

Aimin Liu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at the Eberly College of Science, Penn State University. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University in 1989 and his Ph.D. from New York University Medical Center in 2000. Following his doctorate, Liu completed his postdoctoral training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying mammalian development, particularly in regards to human birth defects. Liu's current work involves investigating the roles of Hedgehog (Hh) signaling pathways and primary cilia in development and disease. His research has revealed the significance of cilia biogenesis in various human conditions and he aims to understand genetic changes that contribute to birth defects. Liu has published extensively in the area of developmental biology and cell signaling, contributing to the understanding of how disruptions in these pathways can affect normal developmental processes.
