Aimy Wissa is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. She joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in January 2022. Prior to her appointment at Princeton, Wissa was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a post-doctoral fellow at Stanford University. Wissa directs the Bio-Inspired Adaptive Morphology (BAM) Lab, where her research focuses on modeling, experimental evaluation, and the development of dynamic adaptive bioinspired structures and systems, particularly avian and insect-inspired wings for robotic systems capable of multiple modes of locomotion. Throughout her career, she has garnered numerous awards including the Air Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator Award and the National Science Foundation’s CAREER Award.
