Biography

Ainhoa Campàs Velasco has collaborated with the Institute of Maritime Law within Southampton Law School on a number of projects since 2007. She has worked as a part-time lecturer at Southampton Law School from 2008 to 2014, conducting tutorials for courses on Carriage of Goods by Sea at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels. In 2021, she completed her PhD titled ‘Adrift in International Law: A Place of Safety for Sea Migrants,’ for which she was awarded the Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for her studies. Additionally, Ainhoa was a postdoctoral research fellow on a project focused on 'Saharan Mediterranean Cross-Border Migration Deaths: Impacts on Economic and Social Development in African Countries,' where she acted under the principal investigator Dr. Remigius N Nwabueze. A qualified lawyer, she was admitted to the Bar Association of Madrid in 1998, bringing with her nearly ten years of legal practice experience at leading maritime law firms in Madrid, with a substantial focus on litigation relating to cargo claims, charterparty disputes, and maritime administrative proceedings.
