Biography

Ajitesh Srivastava is a Research Assistant Professor in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Southern California. He is also the Associate Director of the USC Center for AI Society, a collaborative initiative involving the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. Dr. Srivastava obtained his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Southern California in 2018. His research interests include network science, modeling, and machine learning as applied to epidemics, social good, and social networks. He collaborates with teams worldwide on forecasting scenarios for infectious disease projections. He has garnered funding from institutions such as the National Science Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Notably, he was a winner of the DARPA Grand Challenge in 2014 and an awardee of the Indian National Math Olympiad in 2008, which recognizes exceptional mathematical talent in India. His current research focuses on the application of network science and machine learning techniques to real-world problems, particularly in the areas of epidemic modeling and homelessness, utilizing methods designed to enhance forecasting and policy optimization.
