Biography

Akbar joined the Uzbek bar in 2003 and holds degrees from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan), University of Essex, University of Hull, and Harvard Law School. He is a member of the Executive Council of the Asian Society of International Law. Akbar teaches a variety of international law courses in the LLB and LLM programs. His main research interests lie in international economic law and general international law, with a particular focus on the law of development, the history of international legal thought, and economic coercion. He is intrigued by North-South tensions and incorporates theories from discourse analysis, semiotics, and critical legal studies into his research. Akbar also possesses a strong interest in the intersection of law and economics.
