Biography

Akemi Laura Brown is a board-certified Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine physician practicing at the Stanford Internal Medicine Clinic in Palo Alto. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Human Biology from the University of California, San Diego. She attended the UC Berkeley-UCSF Joint Medical Program, receiving an MS in Health Medical Sciences from UC Berkeley School of Public Health, followed by her MD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). A native of the Bay Area, Dr. Brown is passionate about providing patient-centered care, particularly in primary care and weight management. As an active clinician educator, she enjoys teaching medical students and residents, as well as developing educational curriculum. Her work has also included research in health disparities, interprofessional program development, and quality improvement in cervical cancer screenings.
