Dr. Akhil Datta Gupta

Biography

Akhil Datta-Gupta is a Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Texas A&M University. He holds the L.F. Peterson '36 Chair and is a University Distinguished Professor as well as a Regents Professor. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, he specializes in rapid flow simulation techniques, reservoir optimization, and large-scale parameter estimation inverse methods. His work also encompasses uncertainty quantification assessments and the application of streamline simulation. He has a robust educational background, having obtained his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 1992, and has contributed to the field through various publications and memberships, notably as an Honorary Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. Datta-Gupta's research interests further include geostatistics, stochastic reservoir characterization, and modeling scale-up enhanced oil recovery, demonstrating his commitment to integrating advanced methodologies in petroleum engineering.
