Akindele G. Odeshi is a Professor and Associate Dean Academic in the College of Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. He earned his PhD from Chemnitz University, Germany in June 2001, and holds both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Engineering from Akure, Nigeria, earned in July 1994 and July 1987 respectively. Prior to joining the University of Saskatchewan as an Assistant Professor in 2008, he worked as a Research Associate at the University of Technology Chemnitz, Germany, and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Canada. His research interests encompass physical metallurgy, microstructure design, engineered materials, composite materials, and high strain-rate testing evaluation and failure fracture. His recent research focuses on the role of microstructure in deformation and failure of structural materials under dynamic shock loading, specifically regarding C/C composites which are valued for their superior thermal and mechanical properties. Odeshi is actively involved in developing cost-effective manufacturing methods for C/C-SiC composites. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS) and has previously served on the Boiler Pressure Vessel Safety Board in Saskatchewan.
