Biography

Alaa Elnajjar graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (M.B.B.Ch.) from Ain Shams University, Cairo, in 2009. He completed a combined psychiatry-neurology residency training at Ain Shams University and earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Neurology and Psychiatry, along with his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.). He finished his general psychiatry residency training at New York Medical College, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, in 2019, and has received various academic recognitions for his contributions to medical student education. Dr. Elnajjar completed his fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center, graduating in 2021. He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University and works as an attending psychiatrist at Bradley Hospital. His scholarly work centers around digital access to care, resilience promotion, and equity-driven strategies to support medical trainees and faculty. Dr. Elnajjar's research emphasizes the well-being of physician trainees, focusing on scalable digital interventions, peer mentorship models, and culturally responsive approaches to reducing burnout, stigma, and suicide risk.
