Biography

Alagan Anpalagan received B.A.Sc., M.A.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada. He joined the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) in 2001 and was promoted to Full Professor in 2010. He has served as the Graduate Program Director (2004-09) and Interim EE Program Director (2009-10) at the department. Anpalagan has also been a Visiting Professor at the Asian Institute of Technology and a Visiting Researcher at Kyoto University. His industrial experience includes working with Bell Mobility, Nortel Networks, and IBM Canada. He directs the WINCORE Lab, focusing on radio resource management and radio access and networking. Anpalagan has served as an editor for IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials and IEEE Communications Letters and has co-edited several books on wireless networks. He has been active in various IEEE committees and served as TPC Co-Chair for renowned conferences. Anpalagan is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario and a Senior Member of IEEE, among other professional recognitions.
