Dr. Alain Martin

Biography

Professor Martin focuses on asynchronous VLSI and parallel architecture. He has had a distinguished career, serving as a Professor of Computer Science, Emeritus at the California Institute of Technology. His academic journey began with a B.S. from the University of Marseille in 1965, followed by further education at the Polytechnic Institute in Grenoble in 1969. He initially joined Caltech as a Visiting Assistant Professor from 1981 to 1983, then progressed to the role of Visiting Associate Professor in 1983, and subsequently served as an Associate Professor until 1986. He achieved the rank of full Professor in 1986 and maintained this position until 2016, taking on the title of Professor Emeritus thereafter. In addition to his teaching and research duties, he held the position of Executive Officer from 1994 to 1997, demonstrating his leadership within the department.
