Dr. Alaina Morgan

Biography

Alaina Morgan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History at the University of Southern California. She is a trained historian specializing in African Diaspora history. Professor Morgan’s research focuses on the historical utility of religion, particularly Islam, in the context of racial liberation and anti-colonial movements during the mid to late twentieth century Atlantic world. Her work combines elements of intellectual, political, and religious history, exploring the connections between religious identity, racial formation, and grassroots activism within local and global politics.
