Biography

Alan Convery completed his PhD at the University of Strathclyde in 2013 and joined the School of Social and Political Science at the University of Edinburgh in September 2013, where he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in Politics in 2019. He teaches courses on British Government, Parliament, and Conservatism. Convery has actively contributed to academic discourse as the Deputy Editor (2015-2018) and Lead Editor (2018-2021) for the British Journal of Politics and International Relations. Convery’s research interests include multi-level party politics, territorial politics, and the conservative politics of the UK, with particular focus on Scotland and Wales. His notable works include books and articles addressing issues within British politics, including the dynamics of the Scottish Conservative Party and its evolution.
