Biography

Alan H. Daniels, MD, is a board-certified spine surgeon with a specialization in adult spinal deformity and complex spinal disorders. He serves as the Chief of the Spine Orthopedic Department at Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital, and holds a full professor position at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University. As co-director of the Brown Spine Surgery Fellowship, Dr. Daniels has established himself as a high-volume spine surgeon, performing around 400 spine surgeries each year. His clinical practice focuses on patients suffering from conditions such as scoliosis, kyphosis, flatback syndrome, failed spinal surgeries, degenerative spinal diseases, spinal trauma, and spinal tumors. Dr. Daniels completed his medical training at Oregon Health Science University and his orthopedic surgery residency at Brown University, followed by additional spine surgery fellowship training. He is recognized for his contributions to spinal biomechanics research and has been published in over 600 peer-reviewed articles. His research has earned him numerous prestigious awards. His affiliations include the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Lumbar Spine Research Society, and the Scoliosis Research Society.
