Scottish pianist Alan Darling has performed recitals throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States, collaborating with notable artists such as Jamie Barton, Nicole Cabell, and Matthew Polenzani. From 1993 to 2005, he performed over fifty song recitals at Ravinia’s Steans Musical Institute and premiered new works for voice and piano by composers including Christopher Berg and Tom Cipullo. He has served as an assistant conductor at Lyric Opera Chicago and has taught at Yale University and Lyric Opera Chicago’s Ryan Opera Center. His education includes degrees from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and the University of Michigan, and he has studied alongside renowned pianists and participated in summer programs at Tanglewood Music Center.
