Dr. Alan Gamlen

Biography

Alan Gamlen is a social scientist specializing in large-scale interdisciplinary comparative research using both quantitative and qualitative methods. He is the Founding Director of the ANU Migration Hub and a Professor in the School of Regulation and Global Governance at the Australian National University. Over the years, he has worked on significant issues related to human migration, mobility, and identity, holding positions at renowned institutions including the University of Oxford and Stanford University. Gamlen has served as the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the journal Migration Studies and has been involved with various international organizations and NGOs providing advice on migration-related matters. He is a member of the ARC College of Experts and has received multiple accolades, including recognition for his distinguished research in the field of migration studies. His ongoing research includes projects examining the political and economic agency of Africans in Australia and understanding disruptions in Australian migration.
