Dr. Alan Mcmillan

Biography

Alan B. McMillan, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in clinical health sciences. He serves as the Associate Section Chief of Imaging Sciences and co-director of the Institute Clinical Translational Research Pilot Awards Program. McMillan holds affiliate appointments in the Department of Medical Physics, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering. He is currently the Lab Director at the Molecular Imaging/Magnetic Resonance Technology Lab (MIMRTL), where the team's focus is on integrating advanced modeling, data science, and physics-based approaches to improve medical imaging, particularly through modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET). His research group is significantly involved in the development, application, and evaluation of artificial intelligence methods in medical imaging, aiming to enhance diagnostic capabilities and patient outcomes. McMillan earned his graduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2007 and has contributed extensively to the field through his publications and research.
