Biography

Alan Ruby has had a long career in government, business, philanthropy, and education, serving as a classroom teacher and as Australia's Deputy Secretary for Education. Currently, he is a Senior Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania's Graduate School of Education (Penn GSE) and focuses on the effects of globalization on higher education. He leads graduate seminars on globalization and the university, and has been recognized for his teaching excellence with the School’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006. His extensive experience includes leading education programs in the Asia-Pacific region and chairing committees at the OECD focused on developing educational metrics and frameworks.
