Dr. Alan Scoboria

Biography

Alan Scoboria was a professor in the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Windsor, with a focus on Behavior and Cognition Neuroscience. He joined the faculty in 2004 after completing his undergraduate studies at Albion College and Wayne State University, followed by his MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Connecticut. He also completed a clinical internship at the Ann Arbor Veterans Administration Medical Center. Throughout his career, he taught various undergraduate and graduate courses, covering topics such as abnormal psychology, psychology law, research methods, ethics, and professional issues. As a registered clinical psychologist in Ontario, he managed a small private practice while actively conducting research in memory cognition, particularly in how appraisals affect the accuracy and recollection of autobiographical memory and eyewitness reports. He led a research lab consisting of PhD students, MA students, honours students, and undergraduate research assistants, making notable contributions to understanding the social influences on memory reports and applied cognitive issues in clinical disorders.
