Dr. Alasdair Young

Biography

Alasdair Young is a Professor and the Neal Family Chair at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs within the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Tech. He serves as the Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Development and directs the Center for International Strategy and Policy. His academic journey includes a decade at the University of Glasgow, and prior research positions at the European University Institute in Florence and the University of Sussex in the UK. Young has a distinguished record of scholarly contributions, including five authored books and 17 edited volumes. His latest work, "Supplying Compliance with Trade Rules: Explaining the EU's Responses to Adverse WTO Rulings," was published by Oxford University Press in 2021. Additionally, he has published numerous articles in prestigious journals such as Global Environmental Politics and Journal of Common Market Studies. Young's research primarily focuses on trade regulatory policies and the European Union's transatlantic relationships, with growing interests in economic security and statecraft. He has also engaged in consultancy work for UK governmental bodies and the European Commission.
