Biography

Prior to taking the Chair in Statistics at Imperial College London in 2005, Alastair Young was a Reader in Methodological Statistics at the Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge. His research interests focus on contemporary, computer-intensive approaches in frequentist statistics, with particular emphasis on bootstrap-related techniques for both parametric and non-parametric inference. He is actively involved in the development of approximation methods, saddlepoint procedures, and statistical inference procedures related to spatial data. Alastair is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and serves as a Joint Editor for the Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, Series B.
