Biography

Albert Fahrenbach is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry at the University of New South Wales. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Indiana University in 2008, where he conducted research under Professor Amar Flood, focusing on synthetic supramolecular chemistry. Fahrenbach completed his PhD in Organic Chemistry at Northwestern University in 2013, under the mentorship of Professor Sir Fraser Stoddart, a Nobel Laureate, investigating molecular self-assembly and template-directed synthesis of artificial molecular switches and machines. He further honed his research skills as a postdoctoral scholar at Harvard University and Massachusetts General Hospital, working with Professor Jack Szostak, another Nobel Laureate, on nonenzymatic RNA replication and prebiotic synthesis. Fahrenbach has also spent time at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in the Earth-Life Science Institute, a research center specializing in origins of life studies. He joined UNSW in September 2018 as an Associate Principal Investigator.
