Biography

Albert Hsiao is a San Diego native who completed a dual-major at the California Institute of Technology in Biology and Engineering/Computer Science before returning to San Diego for medical school. He joined the dual-degree MD-PhD Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at the University of California, San Diego, where he completed his training in Bioengineering with a specialization in Bioinformatics, ultimately earning his PhD in 2007. He subsequently completed his clinical training at Stanford Hospital in general surgery, diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, and cardiovascular imaging. Dr. Hsiao has been instrumental in developing innovative medical imaging technologies, co-founding Arterys, Inc., which created a cloud-based medical imaging artificial intelligence platform. He returned to UC San Diego as a faculty member in the Department of Radiology and established the Augmented Imaging/Data Analytics (AiDA) laboratory, which focuses on advancing imaging techniques for diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease and cancer.
