Biography

Albert Pinsonneault is the Associate Director of Choral Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he teaches choir, conducting, and choral literature. He is the founder and artistic director of the Madison Choral Project, a 24-voice professional chamber choir based in Madison, Wisconsin. Pinsonneault is a fierce advocate for new music, having commissioned and premiered over 30 works for choir. In 2020, he received a place in the American Prize for Professional Choirs and has performed by invitation at the Midwestern ACDA Regional conferences in 2018 and 2020. He has presented at the ACDA National conference in 2017 and headlined the Iowa Choral Directors Association state conference in 2024. Pinsonneault's 2024 album 'Hope Eats Alive', featuring works by Scott Gendel, was released by PARMA Recording’s Navona Records. Additionally, his booklet on Choral Intonation has been published through Graphite and is actively used by over 150 high schools, universities, churches, and community choruses.
