Biography

Albert Yoon holds the Michael J. Trebilcock Chair in Law and Economics at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Yale and his law and doctoral degrees in political science from Stanford University, where he was the senior articles editor of the Stanford Law Review. After graduating, he clerked for Hon. R. Guy Cole at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Before joining the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto, Albert was a professor of law at Northwestern University and served as Associate Dean for Research and Curriculum from 2018 to 2020. He became a Pierre Elliot Trudeau Fellow in 2022 and has held fellowships at Princeton University and the Robert Wood Johnson and Russell Sage foundations. In 2023, he was the George Francis Brownell Visiting Professor at Harvard Law School. Albert's research examines labor markets and the legal profession, focusing on legal ethics and the applications of machine learning and natural language processing in law. He has published in top law reviews and is a member of the American Law Institute. In addition, Albert co-founded Blue J Legal, a company specializing in tax and employment law research tools that leverage artificial intelligence to provide comprehensive legal answers.
