Biography

Alberto joined Prof. Volker Hoffmann's Group at ETH Zurich as a PhD candidate in 2022, focusing on sustainability technology, particularly in the areas of plastics recycling and the circular economy. He studied Sustainability Science Policy at Maastricht University in the Netherlands, where he concentrated on environmental policy and sustainability innovation. His master's thesis involved developing a model to analyze stakeholders' perspectives on biomethane development in Emilia Romagna. Prior to joining the Sustainability Technology Group, Alberto worked as a regulatory affairs officer for Federchimica, managing legislative policy developments related to plastics at both the EU and national levels. He also served as a Policy Sustainability Consultant for Zurich-based startup SOLCollab, specializing in climate risk analysis for agri-food companies. Apart from his academic pursuits, Alberto enjoys hiking, playing soccer, and engaging in theatre acting.
