I am a Quaternary geologist who employs stratigraphic, paleoenvironmental, and geochemical approaches to address research questions related to landscape and climate change in the north. My interests span timescales from the early Cenozoic to the late Holocene, focusing on the development of records that represent environmental change in unglaciated northwest North America, the response of permafrost and ice sheets to sustained climate warming during Pleistocene interglacials, and Cenozoic analogues for contemporary warming. I am particularly interested in the study of modern glacier and permafrost change. My educational background includes a Postdoc from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Department of Geoscience, a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta in the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, an M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University in the Department of Earth Sciences, and a B.Sc. from the University of Victoria in the Department of Geography. My research works span millions of years and centuries, particularly focusing on periods of climate that resemble the warmer conditions of the Pleistocene, known as 'super-interglacials', as well as Cenozoic greenhouse intervals.
