Biography

Alberto Salazar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Law and Legal Studies at Carleton University. His research interests encompass various fields including corporate law, comparative corporate governance, consumer protection law, international investment law, competition law policy, and socio-economics of business law. His recent work explores the implications of executive compensation policies, how employee participation affects corporate governance, the role of food advertising in public health, corporate social responsibility, and the issues surrounding corporate corruption in both rich and poor countries. Before joining Carleton University in 2013, he taught in the Business Society Program at Osgoode Hall Law School, York University. He has also been a MacArthur Fellow at the University of Oxford and a CAPORDE Fellow at the University of Cambridge. Professor Salazar is actively involved in research, serving as a member of the Directory of Experts in Academic Consumer Interest Research in Canada and is on the Advisory Board of the Law Business Review Americas. He also coordinates the Carleton Law, Business Society Group, an academic group focused on critical discussions of business law. Outside of academia, he volunteers at food banks and collaborates with legal clinics to provide help to vulnerable groups while advocating for social justice and business ethics. His personal interests include soccer, walking, music, and nature.
