Biography

Alberto F. Vallejo, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Clinical Family Medicine Division and Physician Assistant Studies at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in cell and molecular biology with a minor in chemistry from Humboldt State University in 1998, a Master of Science in kinesiology from California State University, Northridge in 2001, and completed his Ph.D. in biokinesiology at USC in 2005. With over 10 years of experience teaching at the university level, he has extensively taught within the Dornslife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, notably in human biology. Vallejo has accumulated 15 years of clinical experience, particularly focusing on areas such as spinal cord injury, cardiology, diabetes, obesity, aging, and serving underserved populations. His research centers on metabolic disorders related to diabetes, obesity, and sarcopenia, particularly examining the effects of exercise in these contexts.
