Generate a tailored SOP for Dr. Alec Wilson. Improve your application with a focused, well-structured draft.
Alec Wilson graduated in Mathematics from Cambridge University before joining Rolls-Royce as a graduate trainee. At the company, he took on several technical specialist roles related to unsteady flows in aeroengine compressors, aeroengine noise, and computational hydrodynamics in ship propulsor design and hydrodynamics of tidal turbines. He was elected a Rolls-Royce Engineering Fellow and an Associate Fellow in Aerodynamics, Hydrodynamics, and Computational Fluid Dynamics. In 2016, Alec joined the University of Southampton as a Professor in Computational Aeroacoustics and serves as the Director of the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Propulsion Systems Noise in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He teaches and tutors in the fields of acoustics, aerodynamics, and mechanical engineering. Currently, Alec is the vice-chair of CEAS/ASC, the Aeroacoustics Subcommittee of the Council of European Aerospace Societies. His research interests include aeroplane noise with a particular focus on aeroengine noise sources and sound propagation, utilizing advanced computational techniques for engineering applications.
