Dr. Alejandra Quintos

Biography

Alejandra Quintos is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Statistics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she also serves as the Nellie McKay Fellow. Her research interests focus primarily on problems in probability, stochastic processes, and statistics, particularly those motivated by applications in mathematical finance, specifically in credit risk theory. After completing her Ph.D. in Statistics at Columbia University under the direction of Prof. Philip Protter, she has been involved in teaching and research that address real-world statistical challenges. Quintos was awarded the prestigious Fulbright grant and has been recognized for her teaching excellence as a finalist for the 2021 and 2022 Presidential Awards for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student at Columbia University. She graduated Summa Cum Laude as the Valedictorian of her class from the Universidad de las Américas Puebla, where she majored in Actuarial Sciences. Originally from Puebla, Mexico, she now resides in Madison, Wisconsin, where she enjoys running and has completed eight marathons to date.
