Dr. Aleks Kissinger

Biography

Aleks Kissinger is a Full Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, where he co-heads the Quantum Group. His research focuses on quantum software, particularly on quantum compilation, fault-tolerant quantum computing, and the classical simulation of quantum computations. He utilizes diagrammatic graph-theoretic approaches to reason about quantum systems. As an educator, he is known for co-authoring textbooks such as 'Picturing Quantum Processes' and 'Picturing Quantum Software'. The former teaches principles of quantum theory using string diagrams, while the latter introduces the fundamentals of quantum compiling and fault-tolerant quantum computing. Kissinger's work has been recognized through various publications and is actively engaged in teaching and mentoring students in quantum computing.
