Biography

Aleksander Czekanski currently holds the position of Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and serves as the co-Director of the Manufacturing Technology Entrepreneurship Centre at York University. Dr. Czekanski earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2000 and later obtained an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 2004. Over the past decade, he has received numerous awards recognizing excellence in teaching and research, including the President's University-Wide Teaching Award and the Lassonde Innovation Award - Established Researcher. His leadership in the engineering field includes ten years on the board of directors of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME) and serving as President from 2022 to 2024. He also served as President of the Canadian Engineering Education Association (CEEA) for 2020-2021 and has earned fellowships from multiple engineering associations.
