Biography

Aleksey Sadekov graduated from the Geology Department of Moscow State University and obtained his PhD in Earth Sciences from the Australian National University. He has served as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Edinburgh (2008-2011) and the University of Cambridge (2011-2017) before joining the University of Western Australia. In 2022, he became the academic leader of the ICP-MS laboratory/platform at UWA. In this role, he oversees the development, management, and operation of an advanced analytical research platform. Sadekov is involved in the national network of Microscopy Australia as a member of the Centre for Microscopy & Materials Analysis (CMCA) at UWA. His research interests are centered on isotope geochemistry, in-situ analytical geochemistry, applications in geology and environmental sciences, paleoclimatology, and biomineralization. He participates in various projects, including those on Early Earth Evolution and dating rock engravings made by the indigenous population of Western Australia. With extensive experience in supervising and co-supervising postgraduate students, he welcomes applications from prospective students interested in pursuing studies in environmental geochemistry.
