Biography

Alessandra Ponte is a full professor at the School of Architecture at the University of Montreal. She has also taught at Princeton University, Cornell University, Pratt Institute, ETH Zurich, and the Università Iuav di Venezia. Previously, she was an associate professor at the School of Design of Built Environment and Engineering, Queensland University of Technology, and a visiting professor at the University of Technology Sydney. Since 2008, she has been responsible for designing and organizing the Phyllis Lambert Seminar, an annual event focusing on landscape and architecture themes. Ponte has served as a co-curator for exhibitions including Total Environment: Montreal 1965-1975 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and has collaborated on projects for the Canadian Architecture Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Her published works include a collection of essays on the extreme landscapes of North America titled House Light Entropy. Her research interests include environmental planning design, architecture history, cultural landscapes, and urban studies.
